Shakespeare in Lockdown by Jessica Temple

When we challenged actor Jessica Temple (The Madness of George III, The Merchant of Venice) to send us some videos of her favourite Shakespearean speeches re-imagined for lockdown life, there could only ever have been one choice for her first video…

In Jess’s second video, we see (arguably) one of the Bard’s most famous characters in a whole new setting…

Thanks for helping to keep us entertained, Jess!

Lots of our staff are getting creative whilst staying at home!

Our Administration Assistant Frances has made a few changes to Shakespeare’s well-known Romeo and Juliet prologue to make the speech relevant to today…

Welcome to Drawing Club

Before we had to close our doors, some of our wonderful Paint Shop team filmed this video at their regular drawing club. Full of handy tips, they hoped to inspire you all to get creative during isolation.

So, whether you’re a novice or experienced artist, have a watch and let us know how you get on. We’d love to see your work!

Sweet Charity – ‘If My Friends Could See Me Now’

It’s only the interval! We’ll be back as soon as we can with more thrilling theatre but, until that time, how about another sing-along as we throwback to Rebecca Trehearn’s award-winning performance in Sweet Charity…

Distan-sing with Alex Patterson

As our Choir can’t meet up in person, our wonderful Conductor Alex Patterson has kindly created a video class for everyone to follow at home. We hope you enjoy singing the ever-cheerful ‘Bring me Sunshine’ – and please share your singing videos with us on social media by tagging @NottmPlayhouse and #Distansing!

Mass Bolero – A Tribute To Torvill & Dean

Featuring cameo appearances by Chris and Jayne themselves, this short film, Mass Bolero, was conceived and directed by Fiona Buffini, former Associate Director of Nottingham Playhouse, in partnership with Dance4, Confetti Media Group and Spool and choreographed by Jeanefer Jean-Charles.

Mass Bolero stars hundreds of people from Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and was made in the spring of 2014 in tribute to Torvill and Dean marking 30 years since their Olympic triumph in Sarajevo.
