Nottingham Playhouse supporters are urged to get involved with this year’s Grow Your Tenner campaign run by localgiving.com. Throughout the campaign, which launches at 10am on Tuesday 14 October, Local Giving will be matching one-time donations pound-for-pound up to £10.
The campaign will run until 31 January or until the pot runs out, with up to £2,000 available to Nottingham Playhouse in one-off match finding.
Nick Lawford, Fundraising and Development Manager at Nottingham Playhouse commented: “It’s fantastic to be able to take advantage of the Grow Your Tenner campaign. To hit the target of £2,000 we need just 200 of our supporters to donate £10. When we add in the matched funding, it will provide all the necessary funds to run Enabled Upstart for another year – a really important element of our participation programme.”
Enabled Upstart is a practical and creative work-related learning programme for young people with disabilities. Running a week of workshops, culminating in a performance, helps young people with disabilities improve their confidence, skills and understanding of theatre and the performing arts. Participants’ disabilities range from mild to moderate, including learning, emotional and physical, and usually prevent their access to this kind of experience. The project assists individuals and their carers in overcoming social deprivation through involvement in a week that is practical, creative and fun.
Allie Spencer, Education Officer at Nottingham Playhouse said: “It is important that all young people are able to access work experience, regardless of ability. In Enabled Upstart young people gain in confidence, social skills and performance skills and learn about essential roles within a producing theatre. They have a “hands on” opportunity to work in the front of house team as well as a chance to work alongside marketing to produce their own publicity material. It is an unforgettable experience as the young people rehearse in a professional venue and ultimately perform to parents and friends.”
To help Nottingham Playhouse to take advantage of the campaign, you can donate online from Tuesday 14 October.
