We’re excited to announce that this autumn we’re partnering up with Local Giving to make your donations go even further. This year, we’re specifically raising money for our vital 50:50 campaign.
Nottingham Playhouse is a registered charity (number 1109342) and committed to making world-class theatre that is diverse as our community and ensuring that it is available to everyone. We do this through offering relaxed performances, through having Pay What You Can performances of all our mainstage shows, and 50:50.
Through 50:50, we’re able to donate tickets to local charities and community groups so that people facing social and economic disadvantage are able to experience live theatre, perhaps even for the first time. A single donation of £10 will fund one ticket.
50:50 tickets help many community groups and charities. In particular we also gift tickets to Home-Start who support struggling families. In 2015, Freddie and his family came to see Dick Whittington. His mother, shared the following:
“Freddie’s experience of theatre and of Nottingham Playhouse gave him the confidence to take up drama at school, something I’d never have thought possible before he saw the panto. The next thing I knew was that Freddie’s school were taking part in Nottingham Playhouse’s Schools Massive project. I was over the moon, as was Freddie. He coped so well with it, and I felt so very proud watching him perform that day. Never did I ever imagine my little boy taking part in Shakespeare in a professional theatre, seeing him up on the stage is a memory I will treasure forever.
Freddie has been on such a positive journey when it comes to drama, and it all started with the day he came to see the Nottingham Playhouse pantomime. Thank you.”
As Freddie’s story shows, it’s not just about the ticket – it’s about where someone’s first theatre experience will lead them.
Now, Local Giving are offering to make your donation go even further and support even more people. During this campaign Local Giving will match all online donations up to £10, and monthly donations up to £10 per month for 6 months. The campaign will run until 16th November or until the pot runs out, with up to £5,000 available to Nottingham Playhouse in match finding.
