Congratulations to the winners of our Mary Shelley Twitter competition
Last week we gave our Twitter followers the chance to win two tickets to see this ‘monster hit’ as it enters its final week.
All people had to was visit us on Twitter @SkyMirror and tell us what their favourite book was and why.
Thank you to everyone that entered and if you didn’t win, here’s why you should come and see the show:
“Mary Shelley is a hit”
Since its opening critics and audiences have been expressing their admiration for award-winning playwright Helen Edmundson’s new play which explores the Frankenstein author’s remarkable life.
“Gripping…beautifully staged…” The Times
“Engrossing…rich” The Observer
“Mary Shelley is a hit” Nottingham Post
“Performances were both passionate and poetic” Chad
“A monster hit” The British Theatre Guide
“An enjoyable piece” LeftLion
Our co-production with Shared Experience and West Yorkshire Playhouse, in association with Oxford Playhouse is a bold exploration of the radical beliefs and relationships that led Mary Shelley to write one of the greatest novels in history when she was just 19. Directed by Shared Experience’s Artistic Director Polly Teale, this production reunites the acclaimed theatre company with Nottingham Playhouse for the first time since 2009’s The Caucasian Chalk Circle.
The reaction to the play on Twitter has been overwhelming:
@mookietwoshoes: WOW. Incredibly written, performed and staged. The house lights came up too soon, I hadn’t dried my eyes!
@thembi01: Just seen Mary Shelley at Nottingham Playhouse, extraordinary production, do not miss it, Nottingham is the place for great theatre, book now
@erinhuckle: Do yourself a favour and see MaryShelley – on until 5 May. Astounding…. I can’t stop thinking about it
And over on our Facebook page here is what Backstage Pass members are saying:
“Mary Shelley is all I hoped for. Absolutely marvellous…we were all mesmerized.”
“…hooked throughout and knowing very little about Mary Shelley to begin with, found it to be a captivating insight into her life. Great stuff!”
Mary Shelley runs until Saturday 5 May. For more information click here
