On Monday 13 June we announced our new season to the press, an invited audience, and to YOU, live via social media! We had been quietly working away behind the scenes for a few months preparing for the big day and the opportunity to finally announce our new season for Autumn 2016 and beyond!
We were live across multiple channels as we revealed the new Nottingham Playhouse mainstage productions for Autumn 2016. Three plays make up our Sweet Vengeance season: the expertly written satire Sleuth, The Revenger’s Tragedy, a blackly comic tale from Thomas Middleton, and crime writer John Harvey’s adaptation of his own novel Darkness, Darkness. Watch John and director Jack McNamara how they are bringing the story from the page to the stage in our video clip below:
We were also able to finally reveal our big secret: BAFTA-winning actress Vicky McClure will be taking to the Nottingham Playhouse stage in February 2017. She’ll be starring as Sandra in our 40th-anniversary production of Touched by Stephen Lowe. At the season launch, she was joined by director Matt Aston (Diary of a Football Nobody) to discuss how the time was right to bring this great Nottingham play and Nottingham’s finest actor together at Nottingham’s finest theatre! Check out the video below to find out more:
We were tweeting throughout the evening, and we had some wonderful responses to our announcements!
